Last Known Information

Darrion “Pritz” Carrington, 18, was shot multiple times at close range inside the lobby of the Canton House, a fast-food Chinese restaurant on Dorchester Avenue, around 11:40 p.m. on January 7, 2008, while he waited for a late-night order and talked to a friend on his cellphone. He was rushed to Boston Medical Center and died of his wounds the next day. Carrington, raised at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church and a regular at the Roxbury Boys and Girls Club, had dreamed of playing basketball professionally. The Boston Police Department still lists his death among the city's unsolved 2008 homicides; no arrest has ever been made. His mother, Natasha Carrington, has since become an advocate for other families of unsolved homicide victims through the Louis D. Brown Peace Institute. A 2025 analysis by WBUR found that families of Black and Hispanic unsolved homicide victims in Massachusetts are more likely than others to be denied basic case updates by prosecutors citing open-investigation exemptions, even years after a case has gone cold.
