Last Known Information

Anwar Green disappeared in Newark, New Jersey on January 19, 2001, after he and his friend Rahim Martin cashed a civil lawsuit settlement check for over $8,000 at a bank in downtown Newark. Surveillance footage showed Green appearing nervous and repeatedly glancing at the door inside the bank. The two men were last seen together at a nearby office building, where Martin briefly called his uncle from a lobby payphone without going up to see him. The day after the pair were reported missing, a man's burned and murdered body was found inside a deliberately set house fire in Newark; that body was identified as Martin in August 2010, nine years later, using DNA technology unavailable at the time of his death. No trace of Green has ever been found, and investigators believe both men were the victims of a robbery connected to the cash they were carrying.
