Case file substantially updated: added the investigated connection between the twins' disappearance and convicted serial killer Joseph Patrick Washington, who had ties to the girls' father, and a DNA comparison against unidentified remains found in Louisiana in 1993 that was ongoing as of a January 2026 report. Also added a verified NamUs case record.

Case file updated: confirmed the 2018 skeletal remains examined for a possible DNA match to Barbara Dreher were identified that same year as three unrelated women (Jewel Marquita King, Verdell Jefferson, and Dorothy Jean Butts) who disappeared from the same neighborhood in 2006 — a separate case, ruling out any connection to Dreher. Also added a documented detail about the man found driving her car, and a verified NamUs case record.

Carolyn, Sheketah, Barry & Brandon Brown — Case #128

Classification correction: Carolyn, Sheketah, Barry & Brandon Brown was reclassified from Unsolved to Unresolved — No Conviction. A jury did in fact reach a verdict — not guilty by reason of insanity — in the deaths of Carolyn and Sheketah specifically, which is a genuine trial outcome distinct from Barry and Brandon's deaths, for which no charges were ever filed. The underlying facts are unchanged: no family member has ever been found, and no one has ever been convicted.

Classification pass: following the correction to Trayvon Martin's case, we reviewed every other case in the archive for the same issue — a genuine criminal trial that reached a final disposition without a conviction, mislabeled simply as “Unsolved.” 28 cases were reclassified to “Unresolved — No Conviction”: Isaiah Nixon, the Orangeburg Massacre (Samuel Hammond, Henry Smith & Delano Middleton), Henry “Dickie” Marrow Jr., Timothy Thomas, James T. Scott, Clinton Melton, Joseph Dumas, Samuel Younge Jr., James Earl Motley, Emmett Till, Amadou Diallo, Sean Bell, Rekia Boyd, Philando Castile, Terence Crutcher, Jonathan Ferrell, Manuel Ellis, Jahi Turner, the Clinton Avenue Five, Anthony Lamar Smith, Ta'Kiya Young, Antwon Rose II, Michael Dean, Tommie McGlothen Jr., Delrawn Small, Yvette Smith, William Green, and Freddie Gray. Four cases that surfaced in this review were deliberately left as “Unsolved” because no genuine criminal trial occurred: Willie Countryman and Maceo Snipes were each cleared only by a coroner's inquest, not a criminal trial; Breonna Taylor's own killing was never charged by any grand jury (a separate officer's federal conviction was for endangering her neighbors, not for her death); and Alteria Woods's actual shooters, three sheriff's deputies, were never charged at all — only her boyfriend was, under a different legal theory, and he was acquitted. In every case above, the underlying facts are unchanged: no one has ever been convicted.

Classification correction: introduced a new status, “Unresolved — No Conviction,” distinct from “Unsolved.” Trayvon Martin's case was reclassified from Unsolved to this new status, since George Zimmerman was in fact charged and tried, and a jury reached a verdict (acquittal) — unlike the majority of cases in this archive, where no charges were ever filed. The underlying facts are unchanged: the medical examiner's homicide finding stands, and no one has ever been convicted in Martin's death. This correction was prompted by a reader.
